Request a Canvas Sandbox Site (Staff)
Instructions on how to request a Canvas Sandbox Site. You can request up to 10 Sandbox Sites.

Step 1: Connect with Learning Technology Solutions (LTS)
Staff members who are interested in creating a Canvas Sandbox, please start off by contacting the HelpDesk.
“Hello, I am a Staff Member who is interested in requesting a Canvas Sandbox Site - can you please grant me access?”
A member of LTS will respond and you will then be able to follow the steps below.
Pro Tip! Dual Roles in Middleware
If you have duals roles in Middleware such as Faculty and Staff, you can switch between roles using the three-dot menu in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Step 2: Create a Canvas Sandbox Shell
Go to Middleware using Firefox or Chrome.
Sign in with your Boise State username and password.
In the left-hand navigation menu, select Sandbox Courses. From this page you can:
Select Create Course + button to create a Sandbox course.
A message will pop up advising of the 10 Canvas Sandbox limit. Select Yes to continue.
A sandbox shell is created and is now listed on the screen as “SUBMITTED”.
Select the Refresh button after a few minutes.
Once the course is “READY” you will be able to Edit it. Select the Edit Course button.
Add/Edit the “New Course Name.”
Select Update button.
A green “Success” message will flash across the bottom of the screen. The course name will be updated.
Click on the SIS ID link to go to the Canvas Home Page for this course. Please note that this blank course shell does not have any content.
