Multi-Section Canvas Course Requests

This article is for program or course administrators that set up large Canvas courses with sections from many courses. Circumstances include: wanting all of your Lab course sections into a single LAB SUPPORT course in addition to the students being in each of their individual courses.

Requesting a Multi-Section Canvas Course

  1. Identify the need for students to be in a course- or semester-wide course with multiple sections merged into a single Canvas site (or more).

  2. Make a copy of this Multi-Section Canvas Course TEMPLATE (it will automatically prompt you to make a copy) and populate it with your information.

    1. You can make a sheet or a tab for each course you will need created.

    2. The sheet includes columns for all of the information LTS needs to create the course for you.

    3. Name the sheet to include the eventual Canvas course site name and SEMYEAR.

  3. Send an email to lts@boisestate.edu with a sharable link to the Multi-Section Canvas Course sheet(s), and request the course(s) to be made. You can see an email template below.

    1. Include information about the name you want the Canvas course site(s) to be.

    2. Include any faculty or staff you need enrolled in the course and the role you’d like each to have.

    3. Whenever possible include deadline information.

I am a lab coordinator for the Chemistry Deparmtent and need a Fall 2024 Lab Support course to be created for all CHEM 111 courses. Linked is the LAB SUPPORT - FA24 sheet with section and course information.

  • Course name: FA24 LAB SUPPORT

  • Course code: FA24 LAB SUPPORT

  • SIS ID: this will be automatically generated when created by LTS

  • Enrollments: myself, and John Doe both as Course Administrators

  • We would like this to be done by Friday, August 16, but as soon as possible is preferrable.
