Macmillan Canvas Integration (Macmillan LTI 1.3)
This article summarizes how to integrate the new Macmillan learning tool integration 1.3 (LTI) with Canvas.

Written Instructions
Prepare your Achieve and Canvas Courses.
Make sure your Achieve and Canvas courses are created and ready for integration. Without prepared courses, the integration cannot proceed.
Go to your Achieve dashboard.
Locate the Achieve Course you want to connect to Canvas.
Click the ellipsis menu for the course.
Select Edit Course.
Edit Course Settings:
Enter your course name, course code, and institution.
Confirm/select the term and year.
Set Course Status = Active on Date.
Confirm/set the Activate on and Course End Dates. The course end date must be set to a future date for the integration to work.
Confirm/set Start Week On.
Set LMS Integration = Yes.
Enter the remaining fields as desired.
Click Save.
Log in to the Canvas course that you want to link to your Achieve course.
Go to Modules.
Click the +Module button to create a new module.
Enter a module name.
Click Add Module.
Click the + (plus) icon on the new module. (Figure 1)
Select External Tool from the Add drop-down.
Scroll and click on Macmillan LTI Advantage Course Tools (1.3).
Click Add Item. You will be returned to your Modules list.
Locate the Module and tool link you just added.
Click on the tool link.
Click on Load Macmillan LTI Advantage Course Tools (1.3) in a new window button. This will open course tools in a new browser tab. (Figure 2)
Click on Connect with Achieve. (Figure 3)
Select Authorize. If prompted, confirm your email address for Achieve and Canvas match.
Confirm the Course Name is as expected then click Connect Course. (Figure 4)
Click Link Course on the link course panel. This will open your Achieve course in a new browser tab.
Assign and link content from within your Achieve course.
Click the More Options menu (looks like an ellipse) for the content you want to assign.
Click Edit Resource Details to open settings.
Check Assign to students.
Set the Due Date.
Enter a Point Value.
Check the desired student visibility.
Check Sync to Canvas.
Choose or create a Canvas module as the container for the resource.
Confirm the remaining settings as desired.
Save Changes. If prompted, click Go To Canvas Course. (Figure 5)
From within Modules in the Canvas course,
Go to Modules.
Click the More Options menu for the module (looks like three stacked dots). (Figure 6)
Select Macmillan LTI Advantage Content (LTI 1.3).
Click Add to Modules to add the latest synced content to the desired Modules. Check the box and choose the desired modules if adding multiple resources at once.
Click Add to Modules. You will be returned to your Module list. Note: Generic Macmillan resources such as Home, E-book, and Student Registration will be made available to your students in Canvas as well as any ongoing content releases you perform.
Allow time for Achieve content to sync with the desired modules in Canvas.
Do not grade or publish Canvas content until the Achieve sync process is complete.
You may see a “Sync Pending” message in Achieve until the Achieve course is synced in Canvas. You may see a hidden Module in your Canvas course during for syncing. (Figure 7) You may continue selecting and syncing resources from within Achieve during processing. Once syncing is complete, desired content will be placed in the modules you selected so you can publish it.
Publish synced resources within Canvas once the sync process is complete.
Keep the general homepage, text, and assignment links for Acheive resources published an active in Canvas to ensure students always have access.
