Captioning in Panopto
Panopto auto-generates captions for all videos. These are not 100% accessible until individuals go in to review the captions and make any necessary edits.
To edit captions in a video:
Open the video you want to caption. Select the film edit icon to take you into the Panopto editor, then select Captions.
Play the video, review the captions, and pause to edit the text when you need to.
You can edit the captions by clicking directly into the text box of each caption chunk or by clicking on the three-dot kebab icon and selecting Edit.
You can “complete” each caption chunk by hitting Enter. Note: this does not save them in the video until you are done and select Apply.
After all captions are edited select Apply in the upper right corner of editor to save the changes.
Note: steps pulled from the How to Add ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) Captions into a Video Panopto and How to Edit or Delete Captions support articles.
