Creating Closed Captions

Summary

 This article describes how to edit, add, and import captions in the Panopto video editor interface. Any videos created after 7/27/21 will have Automatic Speech Recognition generated captions applied by default. 

Instructions for importing and editing captions

  • In the Panopto web interface, enter the editor view for a video

  • Click Captions on the menu in the upper left of the page

  • To edit captions:

    • Click on captions to be edited and click Enter.

    • Optionally enter captions in text entry box.

  • To upload captions:

    • Click on Import captions and

    • Click on Upload or request captions

    • Click on Choose File and select your own caption file.

    • When chosen, click on Upload Captions.
