Summary

This article will describe how you can apply permissions to limit access to files and folders in Canvas.

Instructions

  1. Navigate to the Files page using the Course Navigation menu.
  2. Click on the file or folder's published or unpublished icon on the far right side of the list.
  3. You will have four options for how you can display the file or folder:
    1. Publish: Allow all students to view the file and list the file in the Course Files page.
    2. Unpublish: Do not allow any students to view the file and do not list it in the Course Files page.
    3. Not visible in student files: Allow students with the link to view the file, but do not list it in the Course Files page.
    4. Schedule student availability: Only allow students to access the file between certain dates.
  4. Select an option and click Update.
