Dual Roles in Middleware

If you have duals roles in Middleware such as Faculty and Staff, you can switch between roles using the three-dot menu in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Faculty Start Here:

  • Using Go to Middleware using Firefox or Chrome visit https://middleware.boisestate.edu.

  • If prompted, sign Sign in with your Boise State username and password.

  • On the LMS Middleware Landing Page click Try Now! in the “Canvas is coming to Boise State! Create a Sandbox now!” box at the top of the screen.

  • A new screen will appear asking you to confirm that you would like to create a sandbox course in Canvas. Select YES.

  • Refresh your screen after a few minutes - select VIEW COURSE button.

  • Canvas will launch and you’ll be taken to the home screen of your sandbox course shellIn the navigation menu, select Sandbox Courses. From this page you can:

    • Instructors can create up to 10 Sandboxes in Canvas (if you need any assistance, contact lts@boisestate.edu)

    • Select Create Course + button to create a Sandbox course.

    • Select the Orange Refresh button

Create a Canvas Sandbox Shell

  • Select the Create Course + button.

  • A message will pop up advising of the 10 Canvas Sandbox limit. Select Yes to continue.

  • A sandbox shell is created and is now listed on the screen as “Submitted”. Select the Refresh button after a few minutes.

  • Once the course is “Ready” you will be able to Edit it. Select the Edit Course button.

  • Add/Edit the “New Course Name.”

  • Select Update button.

  • A green “Success” message will flash across the bottom of the screen. The course name will be updated.

  • Click on the SIS ID link to go to the Canvas Home Page for this course. Please note that this blank course shell does not have any content.
