Summary

You can join a Zoom conference with audio in two ways - via computer or phone. This article will describe testing device audio.

Accessing Audio Options

When you join a meeting, a prompt will appear if you haven't selected to always join by computer audio. You can click "Test Computer Mic & Speakers" to test your audio devices.

Before a Meeting

  • Log into the Zoom client

  • Click "Settings"

    • If on Windows, click "Audio Settings" (on macOS this tab is open already)

During a Meeting

 You can access audio settings and test your audio while you're in a meeting.

  • In the menu bar at the bottom of the screen, click the arrow next to Mute/Unmute

  • Click "Audio Options"

Testing

Test your Speaker

  • Click "Test Speaker" to play a sound

    • Check your output volume and device if you can't hear the test sound

Test your Microphone

  • In the microphone section, you will see the green input level bar move when Zoom is picking up audio.

  • Click "Test Mic" to test your microphone

  • Zoom will begin recording your audio. Click the "Recording" button (the same button as the Test Mic button) to end the recording and it will playback

  • Click "Automatically adjust microphone settings" if you want Zoom to automatically adjust the input level
