Summary
Testing Center exams are IP-restricted and cannot be administered outside of the Testing Center or the PACS center. This article outlines how to create a copy of the test that can be used at other locations or with different proctoring tools.
Instructions
Navigate to the Quizzes area of the course by clicking the Quizzes link in the left-hand course menu.
Click the More Options button ( ⋮ ) next to the desired quiz or exam and select Copy to.
Enter the name of the current course, you can find it in the top left-hand corner of the page (e.g. BUSSTAT 207 001).
Click the Copy button. Refresh the page when you see confirmation that your quiz has been copied.
A copy of the exam will appear directly below the original. Unpublish the copy immediately until the remaining steps are completed.
Click the recently created copy, then click the Edit button on the following page.
Rename the copy (it will be difficult to distinguish it later if it is not renamed).
Disable the Filter IP Addresses option.
In the Assign to settings, remove Everyone from the field and enter the names of the students who will need to take this version of the exam.
Click the Save button on the bottom right corner of the page. If you are prompted with a warning that not all students can see this assignment, you can ignore it.
Click the Lockdown Browser link in the left-hand course menu.
Disable Lockdown Browser for the copied exam by selecting it and clicking Don't require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam. Click the Save + Close button to confirm the changes.
The copy of the exam is ready to be used at other proctoring locations or set up through a proctoring service such as ProctorU Record+.
Be sure to /wiki/spaces/TBD/pages/8618036 for the original exam for any students that you assign to this version of the test.
Keep in mind that Canvas only allows each Classic Quizz to be copied once. If the same quiz is copied more than once, your most recent copy will overwrite the last. Therefore, if a third copy is needed, use the second copy to create it. It is recommended that you rename each copy immediately after you create it as it can become difficult to tell them apart.
