Using the Response Rate Monitor Dashboard

This article provides an overview of the features available to instructors on their response rate monitor dashboard in Blue.

The dashboard contains an instructor’s response rate data since Boise State University began using Blue in Fall 2022.

New instructors or instructors who have never delivered a course requiring evaluations may not have access to the response rate monitor dashboard.

Instructions

  1. Log in to https://my-boisestate.bluera.com/.

  2. (Desktop) Click on the Response rate monitor widget on your homepage.

  3. (Mobile) Select the main navigation menu then click/tap on Response rate monitor.

  4. Once on the response rate monitor dashboard,

    1. Use any combination of filters to analyze response rates. (Figure 1)

    2. Group information using different dimensions or export all data to Excel. (Figure 2)

    3. Analyze peak response periods and channels. (Figure 3)

Figure 1 depicts the upper most section of the response rate dashboard. Some of the features detailed in this section apply to widgets in the middle and bottom of the dashboard.

  1. Subject filters: Refine the data displayed by selecting Subject, Instruction Mode, Term Code, Session Code, or Session Name. Once a selection is made, the filter drop down populates with the relevant set of filters. You may add more than one filter at a time. Once added, data visualizations will update across the dashboard to reflect your choices.

  2. Sticky filters: Once filter selections are added, click/tap the filters to quickly enable or disable them. Click/tap the 'x' icon to remove the filter completely.

  3. Widget tools: On any given widget, click/tap on the 'i' icon to open or close widget descriptions. Use the expand/collapse button to quickly condense widgets and progress down the page.

  4. Overall response rate status: Click/tap a status to enable or disable it. The donut chart will update according to the enabled statuses.

  5. Reset widget: Use the reset button to remove any customizations performed in a given widget.

  6. Subject progress and performance rates: Performance rates on the X axis are the response rate milestones and within each milestone, there are targets that indicate the percentage of responses completed for your course(s). Click/tap a response rate in the chart key to enable or disable it. The bar chart will update according to the enabled statuses and the subjects table (refer to Figure 2) will update to reflect the exact courses having the response rate or set of response rates enabled.

  1. Group by: Control the data displayed in the table by grouping according to Name of course, Subject, Instruction Mode, Term Code, Session Code, or Session Name.

  2. Search: Enter a search term to quickly locate information. Search terms can include any component of the course name as displayed in Blue, instruction mode, term code, session code, or session name.

  3. Excel export: Export the data displayed in the table to Excel.

  4. Paging: Page through or set number of rows for the widget table display.

Pro tip: If the subjects table is displaying unexpected data, reset any customizations that you may have taken on the progress and performance widget at the top of the page.

Figure 3 depicts the bottom section of the response rate dashboard.

  1. Progression (day - year): Click/tap different time parameters to view progression over the last 24 hours, last week, last 2-weeks, last month, last 3-months, or last year.

  2. Progression (hours or days): Click/tap different hours or days to observe peak times or days for response submissions.

  3. Response analytics pie charts: Observe the channel, or method by which students access evaluations, browser type used, or operating systems used for evaluations. Click/tap on any measurements within a given pie chart to update all of the visualizations in this section to align with your selection.

Pro tip: If the progression details chart is displaying unexpected data, reset the widget to undo any customizations that you may applied to a response analytics pie chart.
