ProctorU Review+ is a proctoring service that relies on AI-based monitoring, as well as live proctors who review the footage of students' exam sessions.

For the remainder of the Spring 2020 term, the exams of some courses will be administered on Blackboard and monitored using Review+. Students will not incur a cost by using this proctoring option. Exams will be proctored on demand, scheduling in advance will not be necessary. Students should remain aware of exam deadlines set by the instructor. It is also advised to follow the compatibility verification requirements ahead of the exam date.

Student Requirements (Complete Before Test-Day)

Please complete these requirements several days ahead of your exam. Be sure to read this list carefully.

  1. Install Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox (Other browsers are not supported).

  2. Ensure that you have a ProctorU student account that is associated with your Boise State student email (create one here). If you create a new account, log into your student email and click the ProctorU verification link immediately.

  3. Install the ProctorU Browser Extension:

  4. Ensure that you have either a Boise State ID card or a Government ID.

  5. Verify that you have access to an external or built-in webcam and microphone and that your computer meets the minimum requirements (System Requirements).

  6. Verify your compatibility using the automatic compatibility-check tool.

  7. You can submit a ProctorU Support Request to work with support staff and resolve compatibility issues found by the tool.

  8. If you have worked with support staff, but are still unable to meet the technical requirements, please communicate with your instructor to seek solutions.

Student Accommodations & ProctorU

This information only applies to students who are approved to receive accommodations by the Educational Access Center (EAC). Do not submit the form if you do not receive accommodations.

Ensure that you have created and verified a ProctorU account using your Boise State student email. Please complete this short electronic form to request/authorize that your EAC accommodation notes be added to your ProctorU Account. No personal information will be shared. The accommodation notes will consist of specific permission information only (e.g. “can use additional notes” or “water breaks permitted”).

Starting an Exam

Be sure that you have completed the requirements listed in the previous two sections. To begin:

  1. Have your Boise State ID card ready.

  2. Make sure that the ProctorU browser extension is signed in. Click the icon (next to the address bar) and look for a blue Login button. Click the button to sign in. If you do not see a Login button, you’re already logged in.

  3. You can close the ProctorU website after signing in successfully. You will launch your exam directly from Blackboard.

  4. Login to Blackboard, and select the course.

  5. Navigate to the tests folder in the course.

  6. Select the test (tests will only be visible on the dates specified by the instructor).

  7. Click Begin. A ProctorU panel will appear. Follow the instructions on the screen to verify your identity (See this demonstration video).

  8. The test will begin after you complete the verification process. Note that the ProctorU panel that appears in step 6 has a built-in live chat option to request technical support.

If you installed the extension, but are no longer able to see it, verify that it is active. To see all of the active and inactive extensions in your browser, check your extensions settings. You can get there by typing chrome://extensions/ into the address bar in Google Chrome (about:addons in Firefox).
