General Suggestions

  • Learning activities:

    • provide opportunities to practice what will be assessed

    • are connected with course and module objectives (e.g., the objective or competency requires that learners deliver a persuasive speech. Activities include choosing an appropriate topic for the speech, creating an outline, and recording a practice speech)

    • are aligned with both outcomes and assessments

  • Complex and/or cumulative learning activities are broken into smaller parts to allow learners to work towards learning objectives through several phases of feedback.

  • Revise activities that are not effectively helping students meet the objectives, based on assessment data and student feedback.

Examples

Objective: By the end of the course, students will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of different leadership styles in various organizational contexts.

Aligned Activity: Conduct a group project where students analyze case studies of different organizations, identify the leadership styles used, and assess their effectiveness. Conclude with a presentation of their findings, discussing which styles were most effective and why.
