Kiro at Boise State (Instructors)

Kiro is an AI-powered development environment from AWS that can plan, generate, test, and document entire features from plain-English descriptions. It breaks work into requirements, design, and step-by-step tasks before beginning to write code (spec-driven development).
This tool is currently limited to pilot use. If you’re interested in learning more about Kiro, or joining the pilot to utilize the tool, please contact lts@boisestate.edu.
Kiro Utilization
Generally, Kiro sees two primary approaches to use in the classroom:
Exploratory: make Kiro available to students, suggesting or assigning light engagement with the tool (less intensive, not required)
Integrated: build a semester- or project-long assignment where students use Kiro extensively to create apps and programs
Kiro Access
Because access is limited to the pilot, and isn’t purchased for all Boise State users, you and your students need to be added to Kiro’s platform manually.
Once you have connected with lts@boisestate.edu to get you and your students added, work on installation.
Instructors and students decide on a Kiro Surface to engage with (see What You Can Do with each surface). This can be decided based on individual systems and considerations, Kiro is the same across all.
Installation information is included for each system it’s being downloaded into.
Once installed, Boise State’s SSO will kick in, prompting you to login with your standard credentials and Multi-factor Authentication.
