Searching Reports in Blue

Searching Reports in Blue

The Blue course evaluation software upgraded in January 2026. Reports are now listed as individual, searchable items versus being grouped together by report type.

This article provides an overview of report handling and the search filters available on the new Blue reports page.

Overview of Reports Page

The new Blue reports page lists all reports individually versus grouping them by report type (section-instructor, multi-section, subject-level, et cetera) and this impacts how you locate reports.

Example 1

In the new Blue, a faculty member teaching multiple courses in Fall 2025 will find each individual section-instructor report on the page. These reports can be searched for using any combination filters {year} and search phrase {subject number section}. In Blue 8, you would have found a single Fall 2025 “folder” and upon opening it, each of your individual course reports.

Example 2

In the new Blue, a college dean for example, who needs a specific subject or department report will be able to search by the subject or department name whereas in Blue 8, you had to first locate and open the Subject or Department-level report then search for and open the desired report.

Whether you are searching for a department or subject report or a section-instructor report, all reports will be individually listed in the new Blue (Blue 9).

These images that illustrate how items are listed individually in the new Blue, but grouped together in the last version of Blue 8 (Blue 8).

Features for Locating Reports

Search

You can use the search field from any page using words or phrases found in report titles. Your searches may not be saved in session or across sessions, which means if you leave a search results page or log out of Blue you may need to rerun the search.

Pro Tip:

  • Choose a search phrase that is unique among the reports you have access to,

  • Combine search phrases with filters,

  • Show more items per page,

  • Use Ctrl+F or Cmd+F (on a Mac) to zone in to the area of interest

For example, if you have access to Section-Instructor and Multi-Section reports, search using “multi” since it is a distinct phrase in the title and not used on other reports then apply other filters or use your browser to find other keywords in the report title.

If using a mobile device, click/tap the search icon to open the search field panel.

Blue 9 reports page, searching for “Mathematics” returns any report with the search phrase in the title. Hitting enter on a keyboard or click/tapping on View all reports populates the search results in the report listing pane.

Filters

The new Blue includes several filters to help narrow your search:

  • Year: Access all reports for a given academic year or a specific term. (Figure 1)

  • Date Range: Access reports for a given set of dates. This may be helpful when searching Section-Instructor reports for a specific session. (Figure 2)

  • Availability: Narrow your search to current or archived reports especially if searching for older course evaluation reports that date before 2022. (Figure 3)

  • All Filters: Clicking/tapping all filters provides one stop access to all available filters for quick application or Saving filters for future use. (Figure 4)

  • My reports filters: Once you have saved a report filter or combination of filters that suits, you can access and run the saved filters from the “My reports filters” on the reports page. You can also edit (or remove) them from the “My reports filters” drop down. (Figures 5 and 6)

Pro tip: Use any combination of filters to return the results you need, then click/tap Save filters to reuse the filter in future sessions. (Figure 7)
