Best Practices within Zoom + Blackboard Integration

Summary

This article lists some best practices to use when using Zoom within Blackboard.

Instructions

  • A well-liked option is to schedule a Recurring meeting with No Fixed Time if you plan to run your classes as synchronous online meetings. This means that students will just see 1 Zoom link within Blackboard and they will click that link each time the class is expected to meet.

  • If you record to the Cloud, those recordings will be easily viewable by students from within Blackboard via the Zoom Tool Link (after a few hours of processing time).

  • Use descriptive titles for names of scheduled meetings. The Zoom meeting name will default to the Blackboard course site title.

  • Remember that only faculty can schedule meetings through the Zoom + Blackboard integration. If you want students to schedule their own meetings (e.g. for group work), they can do so at boisestate.zoom.us.

  • Be sure to log in to Zoom daily at boisestate.zoom.us.

  • Remind students to log in to Zoom at boisestate.zoom.us so that they bypass the Waiting Room for the Zoom meeting (all Boise State users bypass the Waiting Room if logged in). Otherwise, you will need to admit students into the meeting.
