This page provides sample wording for instructions in using Google Docs for group discussions.

Example 1

Prompt text, discussion points, etc.

Discussion Setup

Prior to contributing to the discussion, decide who will be your group’s moderator for the week. Then, the Group Moderator will:

  1. Copy the (usually a worksheet document).

  2. Rename the title of your file to _____.

  3. Click the Share button and enter the email addresses of your group members and the professor.

  4. Before clicking the Done button to share the document, make sure the edit settings for everyone are set to “Can edit”.

Contributing to This Discussion

When you are ready to add your initial post text in the Discussion Google Document, follow the steps below:

  1. Select and open your group’s _____ Google Document from the email link shared by this week’s Group Moderator.

  2. Choose a color for your text and enter your name in that color at the top of the document.

  3. Add your comments to the document in the space provided in your chosen font color.

Note: For the initial post, you may find it helpful to create a draft offline, then paste it in the group’s discussion document.

Instructions and Working with the Team

Collaborate with your team on the linked document below, either synchronously or asynchronously, to _____. To do this, complete the steps below:

  1. Download the (usually a worksheet document) and save it using the following naming convention: TeamName_TitleOfAssignment.

    • Example: C1Team6_TitleOfAssignment.

  2. As a team, designate someone on the team to _____.

  3. If you’re the designated contact person, _____.

  4. As a team, designate someone on the team to submit the completed document.

  5. As a team, complete the rest of the _____ document.

  6. If you’re the designated submission person, click on Submit Assignment above.


Grading Information

This is a team-graded assignment; meaning that all members of the team will earn the same grade.

  • No labels
