Summary
Respondus Lockdown Browser is a secure browser for taking tests in Canvas. This article explains how to install Lockdown and launch assessments that use Canvas' “New Quizzes” tool.
Note: If your course uses Canvas' Classic Quizzes tool, refer the the directions for using Respondus LockDown Browser with Classic Quizzes instead. If you’re not sure which quiz tool is used in your course, please verify with your instructor.
Instructions
If you have not yet done so, download and install Lockdown Browser from this link: https://download.respondus.com/Lockdown/download.php?id=497143110
In a standard browser (e.g. Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox), navigate to your course and select the exam.
You will be prompted to launch LockDown Browser. Click the Open LockDown Browser button to proceed.
Click the Begin button to start the quiz or exam.
Mac users may be prompted to approve permissions for Lockdown Browser to restrict access to certain features on your computer while you take an exam. Follow the on-screen prompts to grant the necessary permissions.
