This article intended for Faculty: In Canvas it is crucial to fill in student grades for all assignments. If this isn’t completed, Canvas Grades could show discrepancies between the “Current Score” “Final Score” and “New Analytics” Grade in Canvas.

This article is meant to explain these differences in this circumstance.

Current Score

The Canvas “Current Score” reflects only the points from assignments the student has participated in. In the example table below, the student has not submitted 2 assignments. Their score is artificially inflated to 100%.

Final Score

The Canvas “Final Score” reflects all possible points from all the assignments, regardless if the student participated. This is the same table as above, but with a much lower score of 60%
