This article covers how instructors can create an Assignment in Perusall and a matching Assignment in Canvas.

Instructions

Must use Chrome browser

  1. Open Google Chrome, log in to Blackboard, open your course site

  2. Go to any content area

  3. Click Build Content

  4. Click Hypothesis Link (Pilot)

  5. Enter a name for the reading/link (e.g. “Lysistrata by Aristophanes” or “Week 2 Reading #3”)

  6. Enter a description if desired

  7. If you want this to be a graded assignment, choose Yes next to Enable Evaluation. Otherwise, leave No selected.

    1. If graded, enter number of points for assignment

  8. Choose other settings as desired (e.g. view tracking)

  9. Click Submit

  10. Click the link that you just created in the content area

  11. Depending on type of material, select Enter URL of webpage or PDF or Select PDF from Google Drive

    1. If webpage, paste URL and click Submit

    2. If PDF is housed in Google Drive, pick a Google account to use with Hypothesis. Then select the desired PDF and click Select

The PDF or webpage is now hypothesis-enabled and can be annotated inside of Blackboard!
