This article guides you through the steps to successfully record a session on Panopto for Windows.

Instructions

  1. Locate and click on the Panopto shortcut either on the desktop or the Windows menu.
  2. Log in through your Boise State account.
  3. Ensure that you are recording to the correct folder, and give the recording a name (1). Both of these can be altered after the recording is uploaded as well. 
  4. Under primary source settings (2), select Capture computer audio if you intend to play a video or audio file during the recording.Log in to the podium computer
  5. Log in to my.boisestate.edu
  6. Log in to Blackboard
  7. Launch your course materials (e.g. PowerPoint)
  8. Click on the Panopto tool link on the left-hand navigation menu in Blackboard (called Panopto Video). 
  9. Click Create, this will launch the Panopto application
  10. Confirm the selected folder is correct (see image label #1)
  11. Click the drop-down menu for Video to select the camera for the classroom
  12. Click the drop-down menu for Audio to choose the microphone for the classroom
  13. Test your audio levels by observing the meter. If levels are too high or too low, use the slider to adjust the sensitivity.
  14. Check the Capture Powerpoint box (3) if you are going to show a Powerpoint file. This will index the slides in your recording. Leave the "Capture Main Screen" box checked as well.
  15. Under secondary source settings (4), boost the fps setting to 30 if you are going to capture a video.
  16. Click Record.box next to Capture Computer Audio (see image label #2)
  17. Check the box next to Capture PowerPoint if using a Microsoft PowerPoint (see image label #2)
  18. Check the box next to Capture Main Screen
  19. Click the fps drag bar at the bottom and drag it to the middle (30 fps) (see image label #4)
  20. The recorder screen will at first be visible. Minimize it while recording your session, then open it back up to either pause or stop your recording.Confirm
  21. At the end of your class period, click Stop on the recording title and folder, then click Done.
  22. The Manage Recordings screen will appear, Panopto can now be closed.
