Information about due dates during course copies:

• When course copying from one Canvas course to another Canvas course, use the automatic due date changer to update the due dates into the future semester.  

• When doing a course copy from Middleware, all due dates should be automatically cleared out of the Canvas Course, giving you a blank slate.

• Before doing a Course Copy where the instructor does not intend to update the Due Dates right away, the instructor should go to the past-semester course they’re copying and turn off the Missing Submission Policy setting. If you cannot update this setting, create a Help Ticket to get assistance from LTS.

  • Note: not unchecking the “Automatically apply grade for missing submissions” box during a Canvas to Canvas course copy could result in your new course’s gradebook auto- and bulk-generating all 0s.
