Summary Respondus Lockdown Browser is a secure browser for taking tests in Canvas. This article explains how to install Lockdown and launch assessments that use Canvas' “Classic Quizzes” tool. |
Note: If your course uses Classic Quizzes, refer the the directions for using Respondus LockDown Browser with Classic Quizzes instead. If you’re not sure whether which quiz tool is used in your course uses “Classic Quizzes” or “New Quizzes”, please verify with your instuctorinstructor.
Instructions
If you have not yet done so, download and install Lockdown Browser from this link: https://download.respondus.com/Lockdown/download.php?id=497143110
Close all open programs.
Locate the “Lockdown Browser” shortcut on the desktop and double-click it. (For Mac users, find “Lockdown Browser” in the LaunchPad or your Applications folder.
Lockdown may prompt you to close specific programs that are running on your computer (e.g., instant messaging, other browsers, etc.). You can close these programs by choosing “Close Applications” on the prompt message.
The default landing page for Lockdown Browser is the My Boise State portal. Log into your account and access Canvas. Navigate to the test within the course and select Begin Exam.
The test will then start (once a test has been started with Respondus Lockdown Browser, you cannot exit until the Submit button is clicked).
