This article intended for Faculty: In Canvas it is crucial to fill in student grades for all assignments. If this isn’t completed, Canvas Grades could show discrepancies between the “Current Score” “Final Score” and “New Analytics” Grade in Canvas.

This article is meant to explain demonstrate these differences in this circumstanceand recommend a best practice to avoid issues like this.

Current Score

The Canvas “Current Score” reflects only the points from assignments the student has participated in. In the example Example 1 table below, the student has not submitted 2 assignments. Their score is artificially inflated to 100%.
