In this article are the instructions on how to apply the restriction settings to exams for the Academic This article outlines settings that must be applied to Canvas Classic Quizzes that are administered at the Boise State Testing Center.

Applying IP Restrictions

  1. Once the exam is created, on the quiz settings page, check the box for Filter IP Addresses box.

  2. Click on the hourglass icon to search Magnifying Glass to select pre-saved IP filters.

  3. Select the ‘Boise Boise State Testing Center & PACS’ option.

  4. The IP address will auto-populate.

  5. Save the examPACS option. This will populate the IP address ranges in the field on the settings page.

  6. Ensure that the availability dates under the Assign settings are set correctly. Exam availability settings should match the dates that the instructor requested on Registerblast.

  7. Be sure that no access code is set for the exam. Testing Center assessments IP restriction instead of passwords.

  8. Click the Save button at the bottom of the settings page.

Applying Lockdown Browser

If Lockdown Browser is already enabled in your Course Navigation Menu, skip to step 3 below.

  1. Click the Settings link in your Course Navigation Menu, then select the Navigation tab.

  2. Enable Lockdown Browser and saveclick the Save button at the bottom of the page.

  3. Select Click the Lockdown Browser in navigation bar.Select drop down linkin the Course Navigation Menu.

  4. Click the arrow next to the name of the exam requiring Lockdown Browser.Select desired exam, then select Settings.

  5. Enable Lockdown Browser.

  6. Advance Settings

  7. Enable Calculator and type - if students are allowed to use a calculator

    8. Allow access to specific external web domains - used to allow access to Google Translate

    Copy and paste http://translate.google.com into box when checked

    Under the padlock, select Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam.

  8. Do not set a passcode for the exam. The IP restriction settings applied in the section above will prevent test takers from accessing the exam outside of the Boise State Testing Center.

  9. Expand the Advanced Settings list. The A calculator (either standard or scientific) can be enabled for the exam from these settings.

  10. Select Save + Close

  11. Exam should now say Required on the right hand side.
