Summary

This article outlines settings that must be applied to Canvas Classic Quizzes that are administered at the Boise State Testing Center. Canvas' New Quizzes tool is not currently supported for exams at the Testing Center.

  1. Click the Settings link in your Course Navigation Menu, then select the Navigation tab.

  2. Enable Lockdown Browser and click the Save button at the bottom of the page.

  3. Click the Lockdown Browser linkin the Course Navigation Menu.

  4. Click the arrow next to the name of the desired exam, then select Settings.

  5. Under the padlock, select Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam.

  6. Do not set a passcode for the exam. The IP restriction settings applied in the section above will prevent test takers from accessing the exam outside of the Boise State Testing Center.

  7. Expand the Advanced Settings list. Only two Advanced Settings the Calculator settings are supported. All others should remain disabled for Testing Center exams. The settings enabled here should match what is indicated on the exam’s Regiserblast submission.

    Allow access to specific external web domains: By default, if an exam contains a link to an external web domain (such as in a question text or the exam description itself) students can view the initial page but all links and navigation from that page are blocked. To allow access to all pages on that domain, list the domain name in this setting area. You can only specify domains, not URLs or web links in the questions.

    All links provided on the exam must be set to open in a new window or new tab. Take special care not to set links that open in the same window, as this will cause students to navigate away from the active exam.
    Enable Calculator on the toolbar: A calculator (either standard or scientific)

    can be enabled for the exam from these settings.

  8. Click the Save + Close button.

  9. The exam should now say Required on the right-hand side.
