Completing an Incomplete: Canvas
Students can Complete an Incomplete using Sections in Canvas. (Recommend to open articles in a New Tab).
Adding Individual Users to a Section
Be sure to add your own username/the Instructor’s Username to the section also. This will allow them to Grade the Incomplete Section.
Incomplete Considerations
Make sure all work the student needs to complete is set as Available for this student to access.
Example for Assignments:
Go to Assignments in the Course Layout Menu.
Click on the Assignment title, select the gray Edit button (near the title of the assignment).
Two easy options:
If the assignment is set to “Everyone” and the dates are open to the new availability times, the student in the Incomplete section can access it.
Another option is to add the student or section independently with special availability dates.

Student Instructions
Students will receive both an email and a pop-up on Canvas inviting them to the Incomplete Section they will be working in. Select Accept.
