Note

IMPORTANT: The Perusall link must remain visible in the Course Layout menu.

Because of this, please instruct students to access the assignment either through:

  • The Modules area, where the Assignment is linked.

    • The Assignments area

    In order for Grade Sync to work successfully, the student must access the Assignment through Modules or Assignments in Canvas, not directly through the Perusall link.

    To prevent this mistake from occurring, “hide” the Perusall link from the Course Layout Menu (

    if it is visible to students).

    Students should NOT access the assignment by clicking on Perusall and navigating to the assignment directly. This will disable the abilty for Perusall to Grade Sync for that student/assignment.now that the integration is complete, it doesn’t have to be visible:

    • In your Canvas Course Layout menu, select Settings.

    • Select the Navigation tab.

    • Drag-and-drop Perusall down to the “Hide” list

    • Select Save at the bottom of the screen.

    • When the instructor or the students click on the Assignment Link, they will be taken to the assignment in Perusall and have the ability to mark on the document using it’s tools.
