Blackboard course sites that are more than two years old but less than five years old become archived. This article will explain where you can go to request an older course be restored from the archive and what information you will need to provide so that we can locate your course.

Instructions

To have a course restored from Boise State’s course archive you will need to complete the form linked below.  You will need to provide the semester, year and class number of the archived course to ensure we are able to locate and restore it.  This information can be found via your PeopleSoft Faculty Center.

As of September 2021 Blackboard course sites for the past five years are archived and available upon request. 

Instructions

  • Navigate to Google Drive BbArchives shared folder
  • Double click BbArchives folder to open
  • Double click Archived Course Info folder to open
  • Download appropriate Course Association file
    • 4 digit number – middle digits indicate year – last digit is semester. 
      • 3 = Spring
      • 6 = Summer
      • 9 = Fall
  • Search for instructor in file to obtain the Bb course site ID#
  • Click on BbArchives again via your breadcrumb
  • Double Click on v9_archives = 2009  to current courses
  • Double Click on v7_archives = for older than 2009
  • Search (<ctrl> + <f>) using the course site ID# obtained above.
    • NOTE: you will need to scroll to the page bottom for Google docs to search the complete archive folder.
  • Download the archived file to a known location on your PC
  • Log into Bb with Admin privileges
  • Click System admin tab > Courses > Create Course > Restore
  • Add “DELETE-“  to the front of the course site ID
  • Click Browse My Computer and locate the saved .zip
  • Leave other settings at default
  • Click Submit
  • Review restore confirmation email message for errors
  • Insure course site is NOT AVAILABLE to students
  • Insure course site is  available to the restore request faculty member
  • Email professor, Close request
